Galveston’s music scene punches well above its weight for a town of our size. You can find dozens of talented, original artists in action every week both here on the island and throughout the region as we “export” our musicians throughout our great state.
Hotel Lucine has carved out an essential role in Galveston’s live music scene. First and foremost, we focus on shining a light on Galveston’s considerable homegrown musical talent.
Local artists such as Robert Kuhn’s Galvezton, Tyson Webb & The Outlaw Boogie, India Tigers in Texas, and so many more are regulars at Hotel Lucine both as performers and patrons. We book local musicians every week, all year long, to help ensure our local musicians can get paid to play even in the off season.
Hotel Lucine also fills a hole in Galveston as the town’s most prominent mid-size music venue. Venues such as the Old Quarter Acoustic Café are legendary gems within Galveston’s music scene. However, some touring bands need a venue capable of holding 400+ patrons. Every summer Hotel Lucine hosts its Sunset & Sounds music series which features beach front live music every weekend night and includes nationally touring talent. These shows are delivered free of charge to ensure all Galveston’s residents and visitors have unfettered access to the best music in Texas. Sunset & Sounds focuses primarily on nationally (and internationally) touring bands based in Texas but also includes talent from all over the country. We’ve been proud to host musicians such as Low Cut Connie, The Nether Hour, Shakey Graves, The Texas Gentleman, Rattlesnake Milk, Fulton Lee, and so many more.
Other than Robert Kuhn’s Izquierda Surf & Music Festival in May, Sunset & Sounds is the only reliable source for curated live music spanning the genres of rock, jazz, funk, fusion, and more. Hotel Lucine has Galveston’s largest roof deck - the set-up is picturesque and unlike anything else in Texas.
Bands play on Hotel Lucine’s roof at sunset, with unobstructed views of the ocean and pink skies behind them. The combination of incredible live music, salt air, and incredible F&B isn’t found anywhere else in Texas. Live music has become an integral part of Hotel Lucine’s DNA. On any given night you’ll find guests from all over the country and world mixing with locals from right next door.
